Funeral Services held Tuesday For Claus C. Neessen

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Wellsburg Reformed Church for Claus C. Neessen, 78, who died Saturday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. He had been a patient in the hospital for treatment of a heart condition since July 27th.

Burial was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Neessen was born on Jan. 15, 1893 on a farm in Colfax Township northeast of Wellsburg, the son of Chris and Hermine (Peters) Neessen. On March 29, 1917 he was united in marriage to Marie Knock by Rev. William Landsiedel at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Knock. Following their marriage they moved to a farm north of Wellsburg. In 1948 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg. Mrs. Neessen died on June 10, 1959.

He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and served as church treasurer for a number of years.

He is survived by one daughter, Marcella of Wellsburg, and one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Masselink of Grand Haven, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and one sister.
