Mrs. Dena Haack Is Buried Friday In Local Cemetery

Funeral services for Mrs. Dena Haack were conducted on Friday, Feb. 14, 1975 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating clergyman was Rev. Gideon Wolbrink. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft and Mrs. W.D. Murray sang two duet numbers. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist. Mrs. Richard Claassen and Miss Ordie Beecroft were flower attendants. Pall bearers were Ernest Haack, Oran D. Meyer, Hilbert Haack, Woodrow Lindaman, Jakie G. Lindaman and Kenneth Lindaman. The burial service was held at the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Haack passed away around 9 o'clock Tuesday evening, Feb. 11, 1975 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to complications of a stroke. She had entered the hospital for treatment on Jan. 31st. She reached the age of 84 years, 8 months and 2 days.

She was born on June 9, 1890, on a farm in Colfax township, southeast of Wellsburg, the daughter of Arend and Trientje Meyer. She attended the rural school in the area. In 1903 the family moved to Wellsburg and Dena finished her education in the Wellsburg school. On Oct. 12, 1922, she was united in marriage to Herman C. Haack. Following their marriage they made their home in Wellsburg. Her husband passed away Nov. 21, 1957.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made confession of her faith on March 27, 1927, and was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church. Dena was a member of the Ashing-Jaspers American Legion Auxiliary Post 213 of Wellsburg and also a member of the Wellsburg Study Club.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by 1 sister, Mrs. Cornelius (Grace) Haack of Cedar Falls; 1 brother, John A. Meyer of Grundy Center, and many nieces and nephews.
