Adele Hickman Dead, Funeral Here Monday

Funeral services were held Monday, September 8, 1975 at 10:00 a.m. for Adele Hickman at the Doyen Funeral Home. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman and Mrs. Elmer Ruter sang two selections accompanied by Marcella Neessen. Pall bearers were John H. Kruse, Delbert Ross, Alvin Lindaman, Douglas Geerdes, James Harms, and Sherwood Snittjer. Interment was made in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.

Miss Adele Hickman passed away around 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, September 5, 1975, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of a stroke. She had made her home there for the past 10 years. She reached the age of 85 years, 1 month and 19 days.

She was born on July 16, 1890 on a farm in German Township northwest of Wellsburg. Her parents were John and Kea (Deters) Hickman. She attended the rural school in the area. After the passing away of her father in 1916, the family moved to Wellsburg. Her sister, Alena, passed away on March 9, 1965.

Miss Hickman was baptized in the East Friesland Presbyterian Church of Ackley on August 15, 1890 and later became a member of the church. In June of 1920 she joined the Wellsburg Reformed Church by letter of transfer.

Those who preceded her in death were: her parents, 1 sister, Alena and 1 half-sister, Mrs. Richard J. (Tillie) Lindaman.

She is survived by 3 nephews and 1 niece: John R. Lindaman of Ackley; Mrs. Joe (Mary) Cobie of Ackley; Fred J. Lindaman of Waterloo and Delbert B. Lindaman of Wellsburg.
