Evelyn Neessen Dead, Funeral Here Saturday

Miss Evelyn Neessen passed away early Wednesday morning, March 24, 1976, at the hospital in Zeeland, Michigan, due to an abdominal hemorrhage. She had been taken to the hospital the day before from the Hudsonville Christian Nursing Home in Hudsonville, Michigan. She reached the age of 55 years, 9 months and 15 days.

Evelyn was born on a farm in Shiloh township north of Wellsburg on June 9th, 1920, the daughter of Heiko C. and Henrietta (Deters) Neessen. She was baptized in the Wellsburg Reformed Church on August 1, 1920, by the Rev. William Landsiedel. In 1941, the family moved to Wellsburg to make their home. For the past two years Evelyn was confined to the nursing home in Hudsonville. Prior to this she was confined to the Pine Rest Christian Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan since 1954.

Her father passed away on August 18, 1959 and her mother passed away on October 8, 1966.

Those surviving her are: one aunt, Mrs. Kathryn Masselink of Grand Haven, Michigan and several cousins.

Funeral services for Evelyn Neessen were held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Two duet numbers were sung by Mrs. Harold Okones and Mrs. Ivan Slifer. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Harm C. Meyer and Miss Ordie Beecroft. Pall bearers were Harlan Beninga, Bernard Beninga, David Kruse, Richard Schafer, Rodney Deters and Arnold Nederhoff.

Interment was made in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
