Susie Paterni, 70, Passes Away At Ackley Home
Mrs. Susie Paterni passed away Friday evening, November 26, 1976, at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley due to respiratory failure. She had been confined to the Presbyterian Home since May of 1975. She reached the age of 70 years, 10 months and 27 days.
She was born on a farm in Shiloh Township, southwest of Wellsburg, on December 29, 1905, the daughter of Carl O. and Ettje (Bunger) Nederhoff. She attended the Wellsburg Public School. On January 7, 1931, she was united in marriage to George Paterni. This union was bless with 2 daughters. Following their marriage they lived on a farm on the west edge of Wellsburg. Her husband passed away April 11, 1972. She was taken ill on May 9, 1971.
Mrs. Paterni was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having been received into the church by letter of transfer on July 5, 1936.
Preceding her in death were: her husband and her parents.
Those who survive her are: 2 daughters: (Leola), Mrs. Duane Babcock of Wellsburg; (EtDoris), Mrs. Gary Parker of Greenville, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother: Mrs. Gertie Dirksen of Hartley; Mrs. Grace Janssen of Wellsburg; Miss Tillie Nederhoff of Wellsburg; C. C. Nederhoff of Wellsburg and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 29, 1976 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating clergymen were Rev. Gideon Wolbrink and Rev. Bruce Baillie. Mrs. Edwin Behrends and Miss Luella Beving sang a duet, "Will Jesus Find Us Watching?". Miss Marcella Neessen was organist. A hymn "What A Friend" was sung by the audience.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Peter Nederhoff and Mrs. Bert Riebkes. Honorary flower bearers were Miss Connie Parker and Miss Brenda Babcock. Pall bearers were Craig Babcock, Terry Babcock, Kevin Babcock, Carl Janssen, Royce Paterni, and Clarence Paterni. Honorary pall bearers were Michael Parker, Donald Parker, Ronald Parker and Jason Babcock. Interment was made in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
