George Hoodjer, 76, Dies Of Heart Attack

George Hoodjer was taken from this life very suddenly on Saturday evening, September 29 at his home in Wellsburg due to an apparent heart attack. He reached the age of 76 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 2, 1979 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating clergymen were Rev. Edward Jurgens and Rev. Gideon Wolbrink. Mrs. W.D. Murray sang two selections. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Delbert Ross and Mrs. Bernerd Harms. Pall bearers were Dennis L. Huisman, John R. Hoodjer, Stanley Paterni, Royce Paterni, Lawrence Paterni and Clarence Paterni. Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born on a farm in Pleasant Valley Township, near Buck Grove, the son of Claus and Rena (Weichers) Hoodjer, on November 9, 1902. On November 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to Henrietta Paterni at the Wellsburg Reformed Church by the Rev. Paul Schmidt. Following their marriage they lived on a farm north of Wellsburg for four years, and then retired and moved to Wellsburg to make their home.

Mr. Hoodjer was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having joined by confession of faith on March 12, 1944.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Henrietta and numerous nieces and nephews.
