Lifelong Area Resident, Ida Bunger, Dead

Mrs. Ida Bunger passed away early Tuesday morning, May 22, at the Longterm Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to complications of advanced age, having reached the age of 97 years, 11 months and 19 days. She had been confined there since October of 1973.

She was born on a farm in Shiloh Township, southeast of Wellsburg, on June 3, 1881, the daughter of Harm and Trientje (Ubben) Jaspers. She attended the rural school in the area. On October 18, she was united in marriage to Tielko K. Bunger in Wellsburg by the Rev. William Landsiedel. They made their home in Wellsburg all of their married life. Mr. Bunger passed away on March 20, 1966.

Mrs. Bunger was a long time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having joined by confession of faith on January 12, 1919. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid of the church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years.

For many years she clerked in the local grocery stores of H. B. Koolman and Haack Brothers.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, Ben, Nate and Jake Jaspers, 3 sisters, Tena Meyer, Rena Schafer and Grace Harms.

Survivors are numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 24, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiated at the services. Mrs. Bernard A. Engelkes and Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman sang two duet numbers. Marcella Neessen was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Mrs. Kenny Adams. Pall bearers were Royce Harms, Marvin Stahl, Donald Nederhoff, Duane Nederhoff, George Nederhoff, and Marvin Nederhoff. Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
