Last Rites For Mrs. Gloria Van Deest, 30

Mrs. Gloria Van Deest passed away early Thursday morning, November 20, 1980, at the Eldora Community Hospital. She reached the age of 30 years, 5 months and 24 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating was Pastor Roger Huitink.

Mr. and Mrs. Duane Murra sang two duet numbers accompanied by Marcella Neessen, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. David Taffinder and Mrs. Leon Abels.

Pallbearers were Joseph Looker, Leon Abels, Terry Penning, Joe D. Reents, Marvin Van Loh, and Duane Nederhoff.

Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Eldora on May 26, 1950, the daughter of Eugene and Margaret (Trout) Monroe and received her education in the Eldora School. She graduated with the class of 1970.

On July 10, 1970, she was united in marriage to Alvin Van Deest at the Baptist Church in Eldora. Following their marriage they lived in Eldora and later moved to Wellsburg to make their home.

She worked in Wellsburg for about nine years and on April, 1980 they became owners of Terry's Place in Wellsburg changing the name to Van's Country Inn.

Gloria was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having joined by confession of faith on February 13, 1972.

Survivors include: her husband, Alvin Van Deest; a daughter, Kari, at home; a son, Heath, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Monroe of Eldora; 2 brothers, Terry Monroe of Eldora, Randy Monroe of Eldora; two sisters, Cindy Monroe of Eldora, Debbie Monroe of Iowa Falls; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Monroe of Eldora; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sahn of Eldora and many other relatives and friends.
