Julius Zech Dead Of Heart Failure

Julius Edward Zech passed away Sunday morning, July 19, 1981, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to heart failure. He had been taken to the hospital for treatment on Friday, July 17. He reached the age of 68 years, 11 months and 12 days.

Funeral services for Julius E. Zech were held on Wednesday, July 22, 1981 at 11:00 a.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home in Wellsburg. Mr. Donald Milbrandt officiated at the services. Miss Monica Doyen was organist. Pall bearers were James Zech, Carl Wilson, Harlan Janssen, Larry Harrenstein, Vernon Beenken, and Darrel Shuey. Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Wellsburg on August 7, 1912, the son of Charles and Anna (Muller) Zech and attended the Wellsburg School graduating with the high school class of 1931. On November 30, 1936, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Beenken at the Lutheran Church parsonage in Holland by Rev. Ilgen. Following their marriage they made their home in Wellsburg. This union was blessed with a daughter, Charlotte and a son, Edward.

He was engaged in the carpenter business for 40 years. The family lived in Mallard, Emmetsburg and Des Moines for several years and then he retired in 1971, at which time they moved back to Wellsburg to make their home.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Charlotte) Schipper of New Hartford; a son, Edward Zech of Shell Rock; seven grandchildren; three step-children; a brother, Walter Zech of Ft. Dodge and many other relatives and friends.
