Funeral For Harm Meyer Is Held Here

Funeral services for Harm H. Meyer were held Wednesday, February 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Officiating at the services was Pastor Roger Huitink.

One selection was sung by Pastor and Mrs. Roger Huitink. A hymn was also sung by the audience. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist. Mrs. John Heinrich and Mrs. Harris Peters were in charge of the flowers.

Pallbearers were Todd Meyer, Hartley Meyer, Boyd Meyer, Ronald Klaassen, LuRay Neessen, and Marvin Stahl. Honorary pallbearers were Heather Meyer, Jennifer Meyer, Tim Meyer, Julie Meyer, Heidi Meyer, and Mikko Ojala.

The interment service was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Harm H. Meyer passed away at 1:20 Monday afternoon, February 14, 1983, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of advanced age, having reached the age of 83 years, 4 months and 26 days.

He was born on September 18, 1899, on a farm east of Wellsburg, the son of Harm S. and Claaska (Eiten) Meyer and received his education in the rural school in the area. On February 14, 1935, he was united in marriage to Johanna Luppen at the First Christian Reformed Church Parsonage by the Rev. H.C. Bode. Following their marriage they began farming in the Colfax Township, 2 miles east of Wellsburg. This union was blessed with two sons, Harvin and Larry. Mrs. Meyer passed away on February 12, 1941.

Harm was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made confession of faith on April 13, 1935.

He had lived on the farm all of his life until he became a resident at Maple Manor Nursing Home a little over 3 years ago.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Johanna; 5 brothers, one in infancy, Seibe, Ed, Weibe and George, and 1 sister, (Gertie) Mrs. Gus Siefken.

Survivors include 2 sons, Harvin Meyer and his wife, Esther, of Wellsburg; Larry Meyer and his wife, Karen, of Wellsburg; 7 grandchildren; 1 sister, (Anna), Mrs. Fred F. Getting of Holland; 1 brother, Lubert Meyer of Wellsburg and many other relatives and friends.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
