Mrs. Ringena Laid To Rest On Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Hannah Ringena were held on Wednesday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Roger Huitink was officiating clergyman.

Bradley Ross sang two solos. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Tillie Ohling, Mrs. Henrietta Hoodjer and Mrs. Helen Ohling.

Pallbearers were Michael Nederhoff, Bruce Nederhoff, Kevin Nederhoff, Jeffrey Nederhoff, Bradley Ross, Eric Ross, Kendall Ringena, and Gregory Ringena. They are all grandsons of the deceased. Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ringena passed away Sunday afternoon, August 14, at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center in Grundy Center due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 83 years, one month and 10 days. She had been a resident of Beverly Manor since November 16, 1982.

She was born Johannah Gesine Feenders on July 4, 1900, in Heerenborg (Ostfriesland) Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Angeline (Doeden) Feenders and received her education in schools in Germany. On December 9, 1930 she was married to George Ringena in Germany by his brother, the Rev. Anton Ringena. Following their marriage they came to America and began farming, first near Holland, then Dike, then Hudson and then on a farm southeast of Wellsburg. Mr. Ringena passed away on September 29, 1960. In December of 1960 she moved to Wellsburg to make her home.

Mrs. Ringena became a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church in December of 1948 by transfer from the E.U.B. Church of Hudson, IA.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.

Those left to mourn her passing are: 2 daughters and 2 sons (Wilma), Mrs. Delbert Ross, Wellsburg; (Kathryn), Mrs. Carl H. Nederhoff of Wellsburg; John Ringena of Steamboat Rock; George Ringena of Lucerne Valley, CA; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews in Germany.
