Funeral Held Monday For Anna Paterni

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Paterni were held on Monday, February 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Roger Huitink officiated at the services.

Pastor and Mrs. Roger Huitink sang two selections in the absence of Miss Lori Lindeman, soloist, who was unable to attend. Miss Marcella Neessen was organist.

Casket bearers were Richard Sicard, LeRoy Gieseke, Duane Babcock, Charles Cocking, Dale Van Hauen and Merlyn Mennen. Interment service was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

The Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Paterni passed away around 7 o'clock Friday morning, February 3 at her home in Wellsburg due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 92 years, 2 months and 6 days.

She was born on a farm in Colfax township, northeast of Wellsburg, on November 27, 1890, the daughter of John and Lena (Reufsaat) Olthoff. She received her education in the rural school in the area.

On February 16, 1916 she was married to Henry Paterni at Wellsburg by the Rev. William Landsiedel. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Wellsburg. In 1941 they moved to a farm place northeast of Wellsburg. In 1955 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg. Her husband passed away on September 9, 1968.

Mrs. Paterni was a long-time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having joined by profession of faith on May 15, 1932.

Those who survive are two daughters, (Lena) Mrs. John Hook of Aplington; Miss Genevieve Paterni of Wellsburg; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Odie Olthoff, a resident of Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center; one sister, Mrs. Lena Schmidt of Holland; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Kate Olthoff of the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a daughter Sadie at the age of two, a daughter in infancy, three brothers, Andrew, Ude and Johann Olthoff and a sister, Mrs. Clara Gossel.
