Funeral Rites For Tena Knock Held On Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Tena Knock were held Friday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Roger Huitink officiated at the services.

Two selections were sung by Pastor and Mrs. Roger Huitink accompanied by Marcella Neessen, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. James deNeui and Mrs. Harold Aukes.

Casket bearers were Ronald Okones, Roger Okones, Allen Knock, and Howard Ruter, grandsons of the deceased, and Ivan Slifer and Merle Meyer, nephews of the deceased. The interment service was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Mrs. Knock died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

She was born on May 3, 1896, on a farm east of Fern the daughter of Ike and Annie (Meyer) Kruse. The family later moved to a farm in Colfax township, southeast of Wellsburg, and she received her education in the rural school in the area.

On February 1, 1917, she was united in marriage to Eilert W. Knock at the Wellsburg Reformed Church parsonage by the Rev. William Landsiedel. Following their marriage they lived on a farm in Colfax township for one year and then moved to a farm in Shiloh Township, southeast of Wellsburg. In 1947 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg to make their home.

Mr. Knock passed away February 18, 1957. She continued to make her home in Wellsburg and in February of 1982 became a resident of the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Knock was a long-time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made profession of faith on January 12, 1919. She also was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church as long as her health permitted.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, her husband, three brothers in infancy; two sisters, Mrs. John (Gertie) Heerts and Mrs. Ralph (Jennie) Heerts.

Survivors include: one son, Wilbur J. Knock of Wellsburg; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Annette) Okones of Wellsburg and Mrs. Elmer (Irene) Ruter of Wellsburg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marcus (Minnie) Meyer of Grundy Center and Mrs. Asa (Dena) Slifer of Grundy Center and many other relatives and friends.

The Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
