Services Held Tuesday For Abe Murra, 73

Funeral services for Abe Murra were held on Tuesday, February 4, 1986, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Roger Huitink and Pastor Orwin Duistermars officiated at the services.

Pastor and Mrs. Roger Huitink sang two selections accompanied by Marcella Neessen, organist. Mrs. Orwin Duistermars and Mrs. James deNeui took care of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Randy Murra, Curtis Murra, Marlyn Murra, Mark Tack, Daniel Barkhoff and Andrew Murra. Honorary casket bearers were Michael Grillo, Rick Coles, Verlynn Bohlen and Scott Schmitt. The casket bearers are all grandsons of the deceased.

The interment service was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Abe Murra passed away around 8:35 Saturday morning, February 1, 1986, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls following a lingering illness. He had been taken to the hospital on Thursday, January 30th for treatment. He reached the age of 73 years, nine months and 28 days.

He was born on a farm, west of Wellsburg on April 3, 1912, the son of Andrew and Afke (Jaspers) Murra and received his education in the Wellsburg Public School. On December 4, 1935, he was married to Edith Geiken at the Parsonage of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, by the Rev. William Landsiedel. Following their marriage they lived on a farm northwest of Wellsburg for five years. They then lived on a farm north of Wellsburg for 12 years. They purchased the J. B. Huisman farmstead north of Wellsburg in 1952. In June of 1969 they retired and moved into Wellsburg to make their home.

Abe was a long-time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made confession of faith on December 5, 1937. He served on the church consistory and also was a member of the building committee of the church.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, a stillborn grandchild, two brothers, George and Alle Murra, three sisters, (Mae), Mrs. Joe Kuper; (Kate), Mrs. August Haupt and an infant sister.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Edith, two daughters and two sons, (Norma), Mrs. Royce Tack of Osage; Clarence Murra of Parkersburg; (Marlys), Mrs. Verle Bohlen of Wellsburg; Duane Murra of Wellsburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Ohling of Wellsburg; Mrs. Fannie Ruter of Wellsburg; (Carrie), Mrs. Carl J. Nederhoff of Welslburg and many other relatives and friends.

The Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
