Services Held For M. Janet Gelder, 61

M. Janet Gelder, age 61, of rural Wellsburg, passed away at the Covenant Medical Center, on West 9th St., Waterloo, on Saturday, October 24, from an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Wellsburg, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Rev. Roger D. Huitink was the officiating clergyman.

Rev. and Mrs. Roger Huitink sang "Where The Roses Never Fade" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." They were accompanied by Marcella Neessen, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Jack Dickenson, Robert Dickenson, David Dickenson, Gary Gelder, Roger Gelder and Michael Adams.

Serving as ushers were Dale Murray and Marvin Stahl. Mrs. Rozella Riebkes and Mrs. Sally Huisman were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Gelder was born on March 3, 1926, in rural Butler county, near Greene, the daughter of John and Inez Caster.

On November 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Dick A. Gelder. Her husband passed away in 1978.

She graduated from Union High School at Union. She was a nurses aide and also helped her husband operate his business.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and the Amvet Auxiliary of Wellsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by a sister, Jane Dickenson of Gifford.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
