Rites Held For Terry Penning

Terry Penning, 38, of Wellsburg, passed away Monday, May 15, at the Covenant Medical Center on Kimball, in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church, with Rev. Richard Dowling officiating.

Mrs. Marcia Beving and Robert Kruse were the vocalists. They were accompanied by Mrs. Esther Meyer, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Leon Abels, Rodney Kolthoff, Martin Kasischke, Gary Bambeck, Bob Bentler, Bill Larsen, George Econimides, and Michael Bebek.

The users were Arnold Arends and Donald Huisman. Mrs. Judy Kasischke and Mrs. Bernice Harrenstein were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.

Terrell L. Penning was born April 7, 1951, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, the son of Vernon J. and Annabelle G. Hippen Penning. He grew up in Wellsburg and graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1969.

After high school, Terry worked at Lindaman's Super Market in Wellsburg, and later owned his own restaurant, "Terry's Food and Cocktails," in Wellsburg.

He later sold his restaurant and moved to California, where he worked at "Cafe Sixty North," in Pasadena, and "That Look," a clothing store in West Hollywood. He also worked at various restaurants in Minnesota.

Terry is survived by his father and mother, Vernon and Annabelle, of Wellsburg; one brother, Rick and his wife Kathy; and two nephews, Dean and Curtis Penning, of Wellsburg.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
