Rites Held For Tena Riebkes

Tena Riebkes, 98, of Wellsburg, passed away Wednesday, February 20 at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Services were held Saturday, February 23, at 10:30 a.m., in the Welslburg Reformed Church, with Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating.

Pallbearers were Randy Rieken, Ronald Rieken, James Miller, LeLand Riebkes, Darwin Engelkes and Wallace Heitland.

Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery, in Wellsburg.

Tena, the daughter of John and Dena Christians Riebkes, was born on December 27, 1892, in German Township, in Grundy County. She grew up and attended school in the Grundy County area.

Tena lived in Ackley for many years during the early 50's working as a housekeeper. She was a long time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, and was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. The last several years Tena was in the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, in Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John J., Raymond Riebkes, and one infant brother; six sisters, Jennie Heitland, Mattie Getting, Grace Wulf, Hannah Miller, Fanna Janssen, and Susie Miller.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gesena Nederhoff, of Wellsburg.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
