Etta Ruter Services Held

Etta Ruter was born on September, 14, 1904 the daughter of John W. and Etta DeBuhr Stoehr at Wellsburg. She attended country schools in Grundy County.

On July 30, 1924, Etta was united in marriage to Herman E. Ruter in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. They lived all their married lives in the Wellsburg area. Her husband Herman passed away in 1979. Etta has lived at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley for the last 2 1/2 years. She was actively involved in the Ladies Aid Society of the Reformed church.

Etta passed away at 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown. She attained the age of 87 years, 2 months and 8 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer J. and Eugene T. Ruter of Wellsburg; one daughter, Erma Meyer of Marshalltown; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, November 29 at 1 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Rev. Verlyn L. Boone and Rev. Richard L. Dowling officiating. Pallbearers were Perry Meyer, Randy Meyer, Gary Stoehr, Howard Ruter, Eldon Loots, and Willis Grimmius.

Honorary Pallbearers were: Terry Aalfs, Curt Peterson, Micheal Kelley, Allan Ruter. Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
