Rites Held For Henrietta Hoodjer
Henrietta Hoodjer, of Wellsburg, passed away Friday, September 24 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 92 years, 1 month and 10 days.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 27 at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Verlyn Boone officiating.
Pallbearers were Dick Sicard, Royce Paterni, Dale Van Hauen, Kevin Mennen, Terry Babcock and Stanley Paterni.
Interment followed in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.
A memorial fund had been established.
Henrietta was born August 14, 1901, southeast of Wellsburg, the daughter of John and Malena (Wolters) Paterni. She received her education at Grundy County rural school Shiloh #6.
On November 17, 1953, Henrietta was united in marriage to George Hoodjer in the Wellsburg Reformed Church parsonage. They farmed a number of years northeast of Wellsburg and then moved to Wellsburg where they have lived since.
She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1979; her parents; one sister, Hattie; eight brothers, Henry, Remmer, Otto, John, George, Richard, Lenus and Sam.
Survivors include one sister, Jennie Rieken, residing at the Ackley Presbyterian Home in Ackley; two brothers, Herman (Annie) Paterni of Grundy Center and Jake (Ruth) Paterni of Wellsburg; four sisters-in-law, Ella Paterni of Grundy Center, Freda Paterni and Tena Paterni of Wellsburg and Carrie Paterni of Parkersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
