Raymond Garrett Services Held
Raymond M. Garrett, 82, of Marshalltown, died late Thursday morning, February 18, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 22, at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Chapel with Chaplain Jack Mauldin officiating. Burial followed in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.
Born September 1, 1910, in Green Castle, MO, he was the son of Clell and Theresa Miller Garrett. He received his education in the area of his birth.
On June 12, 1929, he was united in marriage to Esther Mommer in Hardin County. She preceded him in death on December 28, 1945. Later on August 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Berneda Goette Fish in Marshalltown. She preceded him in death on March 17, 1971. Mr. Garrett had been employed with Bennie Swartz and Krantmann's and later was owner and operator of Bernies Tap on South 3rd Avenue in Marshalltown.
Surviving are a daughter, Pat (Mrs. Fred) Anderson of Marshalltown, and two sons, Howard and Lee Garrett both of Marshalltown, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Ronnie) Richardson of Marshalltown, Reita (Mrs. Willard) Accord of Rhodes, and Sharla (Mrs. Wayne) Funke of State Center.
Preceding him in death were his wives, one brother, three grandchildren, and a son Delbert Garrett.
