Carl Madson Services Held

Carl S. Madson, 87, of Grundy Center, formerly of Wellsburg, died Sunday, May 23, at Grundy Care Center of heart failure.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dave Stellmon officiating. Interment was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church cemetery.

Carl was born September 14, 1905, in Denmark. He came to the U.S. at age 16, working as a hired hand for farmers in the Dike area. He was united in marriage to Tena Schafer on February 5, 1930, at Grundy Center. At that time he moved and farmed in the Wellsburg area. More recently he farmed in the Hubbard area prior to retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tena in February 1989, his parents, and one brother.

Survivors include 3 nieces, Irene Hook of Grundy Center, Marie Roades of Grundy Center and Esther Ubben of Ackley and 1 nephew, Hilko Schafer of Grundy Center.

The Johnston Funeral Home in Conrad was in charge of the arrangements.
