Larry Paterni Services Held
Larry Jon Paterni, 58, of Sioux City, formerly of Waterloo and Wellsburg, died Tuesday, February 17, at St. Luke's Hospital, Sioux City, of a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 19, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Allen Call officiating. A second service was held Friday, February 20, at 2 p.m. at Wellsburg Reformed Church with the Rev. Kevin Ver Hoeven officiating. Interment was held in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery.
He was born on September 21, 1939, in Wellsburg the son of Lenus and Freda Meyer Paterni. He married Jean Carol Angus. She preceded him in death. He moved to Sioux City in 1978 from Waterloo. He later married Sally Hutchison on September 16, 1978, in Sioux City.
Mr. Paterni attended Gates Business College and was self-employed as an independent agent for Employers Modern Life. He was former manager and advertising executive for Park Jefferson and was employed by Memorial Park and Nelson-Berger in preneed sales.
Mr. Paterni was a member of First United Methodist Church, was a friend of Bill W., Member of Sioux City Magic Club and a member of the republican party. He enjoyed auto racing and traveling.
He is survived by his former wife of Sioux City; a son, Gary Brent of Sioux City; 2 daughters, Sherry Dean Lewis of Tripoli and Sara Ann Paterni of Sioux City; 1 stepson, Kurt Hutchison Smith of Las Vegas; 2 step-daughters, Elizabeth Anne Jonas of South Sioux City and Cindy Sue Smith of Sioux City; 2 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; his mother of Wellsburg; and a brother, Stanley Gene of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his father and 1 nephew, Jeffery Paterni.
Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, Sioux City, was in charge of the arrangements.
