Lillie Weichers Services Held

Lillie Weichers, 80, of Wellsburg passed away on Sunday, May 3, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Burial was in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Zimmermann officiated the service.

Pallbearers were Brett and Dan Weichers, Justin Uhlenhopp, Todd Wessels, Toby Lauterbach and Brad Weichers.

A memorial fund has been established.

Lillie was born on August 26, 1917, the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Koch) Eygabroad in Wellsburg. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1936. On January 15, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold Weichers in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Amvets Auxiliary and the St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.

Her father, Earl Eygabroad; 2 brothers, Earl and Anneus Eygabroad; and 2 grandchildren, Denise and Leisha Aukes preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Weichers of Wellsburg; mother, Margaret Eygabroad of Aplington; 3 sons, Gordon Weichers and wife Karen of Wellsburg, Craig Weichers and wife Mary of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Kirk Weichers and wife Karen of Grundy Center; 3 daughters, Sally Nevenhoven and husband Ron of Aplington, Sherri Wessels and husband Dick of Fairfax and Camelia Weichers of Wellsburg; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
