Hilda Riebkes Services Held

Hilda Riebkes, 81, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, October 6, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Cordes, Jim Van Deest, Lary Riebkes, Marlyn Peters, Larry Williams and Wallace Heitland.

A memorial fund has been established.

Hilda was born on November 24, 1915, in Grundy County the daughter of Jerry and Freda (Riekena) Williams. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1934. On March 21, 1939, she was united in marriage with Raymond Riebkes at the home of her parents in Wellsburg. Following their marriage they made their home in Wellsburg where they lived all of their married life. Hilda worked at Sentman's Grocery Store in Wellsburg for many years. She was a long-time member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1983; her parents; 2 brothers, Will and Harry Williams, and 1 sister, Lena Krull.

Survivors include 2 sisters-in-law, Janet Williams of Wellsburg and Emma Walters of Eldora; and many nieces and nephews.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
