Amelia Hippen, 85, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, April 5, 1999, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. Pastor Kevin Ver Hoeven officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were Junior Hippen, Lowell Schultz, Donald Luchtenburg, Delbert Hippen, Danny Schultz and Frank Luchtenburg.

Amelia was born on May 20, 1913, in Grundy County the daughter of Joseph and Reka (Meints) Eygabroad. On January 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Henry Hippen in the Wellsburg Reformed Church Parsonage. Amelia entered Long Term in December of 1995. She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Survivors include her sons, Roger and wife Velma and Stanley and wife Dorothy all of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Schultz of Ackley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1988; her parents; and a sister, Grace (Schultz, Valk).

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
