Calvin H. Wiltfang, 77, of Grundy Center, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He attained the age of 77 years and 29 days.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Pastor Robert Schnucker officiated. Burial was in Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Calvin was born Nov. 13, 1923, near Dike, the son of Ben Bernhardt Wiltfang and Gladys (Primus) Wiltfang. He attended school in Grundy Center and graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1941. Calvin served in the United States Navy during WWII. On Jan. 4, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mildred Kuper at the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Calvin was a general contractor. He enjoyed building cabinets, and was a master craftsman. He also farmed, and loved to hunt and fish. Calvin was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, the Crazy 8 Club, and the Grundy Center American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Mildred of Grundy Center; four sons, Michael and wife Linda Wiltfang of Minneapolis, MN, Mark and wife Barb Wiltfang of Wellsburg, Jeffrey Wiltfang of Aspen, CO, and John Wiltfang of Denver, CO; five grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Bernhardt and wife Pat Wiltfang of Grinnell, a sister Berniece Baker of Des Moines.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
