Mrs. Cory, 88, of Clemons Dies

Mrs. Hazel E. Cory, 88, Clemons, died Thursday at her home. She had been in her usual health and her death was unexpected.

Born Hazel E. Tucker on Sept. 6, 1892, in Plymouth County, she was the daughter of David and Emma Gannon Tucker. When she was young, the family came to Marshall County and she received her education in the rural schools of Marshall County.

On Sept. 5, 1916, at Hartland she was married to George R. Cory and they farmed in the St. Anthony, Clemons, Rhodes and Liberty communities. Mr. Cory died in April of 1959. Also preceding her in death were two sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Cory attended the Old Liberty Friends Church and was a member of the Liberty USFW Society.

Surviving are two daughters and a son, Howard Cory of Clemons, Evelyn (Mrs. James) Sparks of Union and Arlene (Mrs. Ralph) Engle of Conrad. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund is being established.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the chapel of Estel-Perrin Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Dillabou of Milo and the Rev. James Hartman, officiating. Friends may call at Estel-Perrin after 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Marietta Cemetery. The family will greet friends and relatives at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa, Fri 23 Jan 1981.
