Mrs. Glen Schmidt Funeral Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Glen L. Schmidt were held Monday afternoon, November 11, 1968 at 1:00 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas officiated.

Two duet numbers were sung by Mrs. Harold O'Kones and Leland Luwe accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen. Mrs. Wilbur Knock was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Herman Hook and Mrs. Arnold Arends.

Pall bearers were Clarence Geerdes, George H. Geerdes, Jake G. Lindaman, Douglas Geerdes, Woodrow Lindaman and Ernest Haack. Interment was made in the Shiloh cemetery.

Mrs. Glen L. Schmidt passed away Thursday morning, November 7, 1968, at the Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown due to complications following surgery. She had entered the hospital for treatment on Oct. 20th. She reached the age of 57 years, 7 months and 13 days.

She was born Hilda Vivian Geerdes, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Geerdes (nee Minnie Meyer) on a farm in Shiloh township, west of Wellsburg on March 24, 1911. She attended the rural school in the area. She graduated from the West High School in Waterloo in 1928.

On October 21, 1937 she was united in marriage to Glenn L. Schmidt. Following their marriage they made their home in Iowa City. They lived in various places in Texas, while her husband was in the service. They spent 2 years in Austria. After his retirement from the army they lived in Wellsburg and since July of 1963 they lived south of Marshalltown.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Stephanville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband, Glen L. Schmidt of Rt. 4, Marshalltown, 2 sons, Lawrence G. Schmidt of Minneapolis, Minn., Glen C. Schmidt of Des Moines and 1 grandson, Robert L. Schmidt.
