LuVerne M. "Skip" Ross, 70, of Grundy Center, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Iowa Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery, Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

LuVerne was born in Wellsburg on September 12, 1930, the son of Martin and Pearl (Johnson) Ross. LuVerne served his country in the United States Marine Corp for two years during Korea. In November of 1954, he was united in marriage to Alacia Oulman. They were later divorced. Skip ran a milk pick-up service for a couple of years while he also worked for Carnation. He later went to work driving semi for Swiss Valley, a job he held for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the AMVETS Post of Waterloo and was a Teamster member.

Survivors include a daughter, Tonya and her husband Mark Dixon of Marshalltown; a son, Todd and his wife Lori Ross of Minburn; three grandchildren, Jessica and Benjamin Ross of Columbia, TN and Samuel Dixon of Marshalltown; his father, Martin Ross of Ackley; and a sister, Marlys Haats of Clive.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Ross; and a son, Terry Ross.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
