Fred V. Potter, 63, Wellsburg Barber, Dies At Hospital

Last rites were held for Fred V. Potter on Saturday afternoon, November 7, at 1:15 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and later at the Second Christian Reformed church. Rev. Bernard Visscher was officiating clergyman. Interment was made in the Shiloh Township cemetery.

Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist. Leland Luwe sang two solos accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen at the piano. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Frerichs and Mrs. Harley Lindamn. Pall bearers were Jack Deters, John Frerichs, Clarence Geerdes, Henry D. Geerdes, Harold Geerdes, and Robert E. Lindaman.

Fred Vernon Potter was taken from this life very suddenly around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the afternoon. On October 4 he had suffered a heart attack and had been confined in the hospital for three weeks after which he had returned home.

On September 15, 1901 he was born to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Potter at Stuart, Iowa. He reached the age of 63 years, one month and 19 days.

Fred received his education in the public school at Stuart. On August 19, 1919 he was married to Minnie Peters. This union was blessed with one daughter. They have made their home in Wellsburg all of their married life. Mr. Potter was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church.

For many years, until his retirement recently, the deceased was a barber at Wellsburg. He also was active in the community affairs, and at one time served as town marshal.

Surviving are his wife: one daughter, Evelyn, Mrs. Jakie G. Lindaman of Wellsburg, two grandsons, George and Dick Lindaman and one brother, Hal Potter of Elverta, California.
