Henry Johnson Suffers Fatal Heart Attack
Henry J. Johnson, who spent his active life on a farm in north Grundy county, died at his home in Aplington at 5:30 Friday morning following a heart attack. He was 74 years, 3 months and 22 days old. He was the son of John and Pearl Johnson. He spent his entire life in Grundy and Butler counties. He retired from his farm in Grundy county 12 years ago and moved to Aplington.
On February 24, 1909, Henry Johnson and Tena Schulte were married. Seven children were born to this union, five daughters and two sons. His wife and the seven children survive. The children are Pearl, Mrs. Martin Ross, Wellsburg, Harry, Holland, Jennie, Mrs. Dick Eilderts, Aplington, Fred, Aplington, Henrietta, Mrs. Menno VanHauen, Grundy Center, Dorothy, Mrs. Richard Neessen, Holland, Margaret, Mrs. Walter Fessler, Iowa Falls. There are 22 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Other surviving members of the family are two sisters, Fanny, Mrs. Everet Miller, Stout, Emma, Mrs. Carl Willert, Thompson, Iowa, one brother, Albert from Holland and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers in infancy and a brother John who died during the fall of last year and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Reformed church in Aplington. Burial was in the cemetery in Wellsburg.
Pallbearers were Donald Heikens, LuVerne Ross, T. Jungling, Calvin Haats, Marvin Eilderts and LeRoy Neessen.
