Harry O. Johnson Buried Saturday At Shiloh Cemetery

Funeral services were held for Harry O. Johnson Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church.

Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Music was given by Leland Luwe and Dick Claassen who sang two duet numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Toomsen, pianist. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Asa Slifer and Mrs. William Meyer.

Pall bearers were LaVerne Ross, Lawrence VanHauen, Marvin Eilderts, Marius Kolo, Harlan Kolthoff and Robert Renken, Jr.

Interment was made in the Shiloh Cemetery at Wellsburg.

Harry Oliver Johnson passed away at his home early Thursday morning due to a heart attack. He reached the age of 56 years, 8 months and 24 days.

He was born on a farm northeast of Grundy Center on November 28, 1911, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson (nee Tena Schulte). He received his education in various rural schools in Grundy County and Aplington Grade School. On January 5, 1934, he was united in marriage to Miss Hermina Klooster at Aplington. Following their marriage they lived on a farm southeast of Aplington. They later moved to a farm in Colfax Township, Grundy County. For the last 3 years they lived on a farm in German Township, southwest of Aplington. This union was blessed with a daughter and a son.

He was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church having joined by transfer of membership from the Aplington Reformed Church in May of 1947. He suffered a heart attack in January of this year, after which he never fully recovered.

Those left of mourn his passing are his wife, Hermina, 1 daughter, Norma, Mrs. Donald Heikens of Wellsburg, 1 son, Kent, at home; 4 grandchildren, Laura, Douglas, Gregory and Donita Heikens; his mother, Mrs. Tena Johnson of Aplington, 5 sisters and 1 brother: (Pearl) Mrs. Martin Ross of Wellsburg; Mrs. Jennie Eilderts of Aplington; Fred Johnson of Aplington; (Henrietta) Mrs. Carroll Shipp of Waterloo; (Dorothy) Mrs. Richard Neessen of Holland; Mrs. Marjorie Fessler of Waterloo: and a host of other relatives and friends.
