Mrs. M. DeNeui Buried In Shiloh Twp. Cemetery
Mrs. Milton J. DeNeui of rural Shell Rock passed away around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo from complications following surgery. She had been taken to the hospital for treatment on Nov. 17th. She reached the age of 49 years, 3 months and 2 days.
She was born Clara W. Meyer on Sept. 19, 1921, on a farm south of Wellsburg, the daughter of Weibe H. and Grace (Nederhoff) Meyer. She attended the Wellsburg Community School and graduated from the Wellsburg High School in 1940. On Jan. 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Milton DeNeui at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg by Rev. Raymond Haan. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Wellsburg. In 1946 they moved to a farm in the Shell Rock area where they continued to make their home.
She was baptized in the Wellsburg Reformed Church on Nov. 6, 1921, by the Rev. William Landsiedel. She made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on May 11, 1941 in the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg. She was presently a member of the Allison Reformed Church.
She was active in church work, community activities and Girls' 4-H work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister in infancy, 2 half-sisters in infancy and 3 step-brothers.
Those left to mourn her passing are: her husband; 3 daughters, (Victoria) Mrs. Elwyn Shipp of Waverly; (Barbara) Mrs. Rodney Kielman of Libertyville, Ill.; Miss Jill Marie DeNeui of Wheeling, Ill; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harm C. Meyer of Wellsburg and Odie W. Meyer of Marshalltown; 1 sister, (Gertrude), Mrs. John R. Hoodjer of Wellsburg, her step-mother, Mrs. Nettie Meyer of Wellsburg; 2 step-sisters (Nellie) Mrs. William Deters of Eldora; (Florence) Mrs. George Eckhoff of Wellsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. DeNeui were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Allison Reformed Church. Rev. Edward Jurgens was officiating clergyman. A ladies' quartet, Mrs. Merle Hoodjer, Mrs. Paul Koenen, Mrs. Robert Freeseman and Mrs. Donald Frey sang two selections. Robert Barz was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Benny Fleshner and Mrs. Vern Christensen. Pall bearers were Russell Guhl, Casjen Boelman, Benny Fleshner, Dean Deuell, George Busch and Eugene Maifeld. Interment was made in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.
