Rites For Trinus Boomgarden Held On Friday

Trinus Boomgarden passed away Wednesday morning, February 16 at the Eldora Community Hospital in Eldora due to complications of advanced age. He reached the age of 84 years, two months and 22 days.

Funeral services for Trinus Boomgarden were held on Friday, February 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Doyen Funeral Home. Pastor Roger Huitink officiated at the services.

Pall bearers were Norman Huisman, Delbert Hippen, Fred Luppen, Clarence Geerdes, Eugene Ruter, and Ralph Boomgarden. The interment service was held in Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg.

Trinus was born on a farm in Grundy County, west of Wellsburg, on November 24, 1898 the son of Heye and Swantje (Feldman) Boomgarden, and received his education in the rural school in Hardin County. In 1913 the family moved to Wellsburg. Prior to this they lived in the Laurens, Iowa area for two years. He did tiling work in the Wellsburg area for many years.

Since August of 1978, he had been confined to the Eldora Manor Nursing Home. About three weeks ago he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Heye Jr., Tade and George.

Survivors include one brother, Jake Boomgarden of Steamboat Rock, and several nieces and nephews.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
