VANDEVOORT, KORTHUIS, AHRENHOLZ

Ella VandeVoort, 98, of Wellsburg, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at the Grundy Center Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 14, at the First Christian Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg, at 1 p.m. Pastor Tom Vos officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Timothy Christian School.

Ella was born on Feb. 8, 1902, near Renville, MN the daughter of John and Engelena "Ahrenholz" Korthuis. Her mother died when Ella was 12 years old. Ella moved to Sully for work. She was united in marriage to Henry J. VandeVoort on March 1, 1935.

They farmed near Reasnor until 1947. In ensuing years, they farmed by Hayward, MN, Luverne, MN and Wellsburg. For the last six months she and Henry resided at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

Ella was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church Ladies Guild. She enjoyed writing letters to her family members. Ella was a faithful wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband, Henry J. VandeVoort; five sons and their wives, Everett and Jeanette VandeVoort of Beaver Creek, MN, Henry L. and Ruth VandeVoort of New Sharon, George and Jan VandeVoort of Dalhart, TX, Paul and Bev VandeVoort of Sherman, SD and Philip and Dar VandeVoort of Eldora; two daughters, Mrs. Chris (Ken) Rindels of Laveen, AZ and Mrs. Ruth (Cal) Branderhost of Oskaloosa; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; four half-brothers, Clarence Korthuis of Longmont, CO, John Korthuis of Longmont, CO, LaVerne Korthuis of Granite Falls, MN and Harold Korthuis of Willman, MN; three half-sisters, Sadie Asche of Raymond, MN, Margie Lepsch of Culterville, MI and Ruth Watkins of Buffalo, WY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Rena Korthuis; one grandson in infancy; five brother; three half-brothers; and two sisters.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
