Services Monday For H. P. Ruter

Funeral services for Herman P. Ruter were held on October 9, at 1 at Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Harold Hollander was clergyman. Music was by the Messengers Quartet, Richard Schafer, Lary Riebkes, Melvin Haupt and Arnold Eiten. Mrs. Henry L. Vandevoort was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Edward Ammann and Mrs. Ted VanDeest. Pall bearers were Gene Blythe, Alvin Blythe, Ernest Blythe, Dale Vry, Meint Bakker and Fred Luppen. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Herman P. Ruter passed away very suddenly around 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 1972, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to an apparent heart attack. He had been taken to the hospital earlier in the day. He reached the age of 66 years and 1 month.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh Township southwest of Wellsburg on Sept. 5, 1906, the son of Peter H. and Grace (Ross) Ruter. He attended the rural school in the area. On Feb. 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lillian Meester.

Herman was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on June 23, 1938. He served on the church consistory for many years.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, and one sister, Miss Jessie Ruter who passed away in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, 2 step-daughters: (Judy), Mrs. Leslie Harm of Mason City; Miss Sharee Meester of Wellsburg; 1 step-granddaughter, Amy Harms; 1 brother, James Ruter of Ackley; one sister, (Nettie) Mrs. Henry Brower of Iowa Falls and a host of other relatives and friends.
