Anna Ruter, 99, Services Held
Anna Ruter, 99, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, December 25, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, LTC Unit, where she had been a resident since January of 1987.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, at the First Christian Reformed Church, Wellsburg. Rev. Thomas J. Vos officiated.
Richard Schafer and Lary Riebkes sang "In The Sweet Bye And Bye" and "Where The Roses Never Fade." They were accompanied by Elizabeth Eekhoff, who also played selected number for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Allen Knock, Dan Blythe, Mark Blythe, Kendall Vry, John Venenga and Dustin Blythe.
Glen Bakker and Ron Klaasen were ushers. Mrs. Reka Gronewold and Mrs. Jans Mennenga were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Anna Ruter, the daughter of Peter and Eda Wienenga Eckhoff, was born March 25, 1890, on a farm west of Wellsburg. She grew up in the area and attended school in Wellsburg.
On March 17, 1909, Anna was united in marriage to John H. Ruter at the home of Anna's parents.
Anna was a member of the ladies guild society and a lifetime member of Timothy Sisters. She served as the organist for the First Christian Reformed Church for many years.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband John; one daughter, Adele Knock; one great-grandchild, Lary Blythe; four brothers, Boyd, Peter, Henry and George; and six sisters, Mrs. Claus (Jennie) Ruter, Mrs. Ben (Gertie) Ruter, Mrs. John (Pearl) Eckhoff, Mrs. Anka (Helen) Janssen, Mrs. John (Martha) Baker, and Mrs. Adolph (Grace) Deters.
She is survived by her daughter Grace Blythe, of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
