Rites Held For Dena Harms

Dena Harms, 76, of Wellsburg, passed away Saturday, May 18, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, of natural causes.

Services were held at the Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg on Tuesday, May 21, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas J. Vos officiating.

Casket bearers were Eldon Harms, Gerald Harms, Dwayne Sents, Kenneth Harms, Jerry Eberline, and Verne Eberline.

Interment was in the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg.

Dena, the daughter of George and Gertie Eiten Geersema, was born on June 23, 1914, on a farm near Steamboat Rock. On August 20, 1916, she was Baptized in the Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock. She grew up and was educated in the area of her birth.

On October 14, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Harms at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Dena became a member of the First Christian Reformed Church on May 4, 1941. The family moved to a farm northeast of Wellsburg in February of 1943.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold F., and one sister, Etta.

Survivors include two sons, Leslie of Clear Lake, and La Moine of Nevada; one daughter, Loyce Horan of Rocky Mountain, NC; a special friend, Kenneth E. Wilson of Cedar Falls, and six grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
