Rites Held For Edward Eekhoff

Funeral services for Edward Eekhoff, 74, were held on Tuesday, April 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church at Wellsburg. Mr. Eekhoff died Saturday evening at the Eldora Regional Medical Center.

Rev. Thomas Vos officiated with Richard Schafer as vocalist and Mrs. Jack Bakker as organist.

Casket bearers were Robert Frerichs, Wendell Hoekstra, Henry L. Eckhoff, Benjamin Primus, John Veld and Harvey Eiten, with interment in the church cemetery.

Andrle and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Edward Eekhoff was born on January 20, 1915, on a farm west of Wellsburg. He was the son of Peter and Jennie Siemens Eekhoff. In 1927 the family moved to a farm near Steamboat Rock.

He attended school at Wellsburg and Steamboat Rock where he graduated from high school in 1933.

He was united in marriage with Martha Uken on April 18, 1941, and they farmed southeast of Steamboat Rock until his retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Martha, of Eldora; one daughter, Margaret, and her husband, Tom Jager, of Grand Rapids, MI; two sons, Dale and his wife, Paulette Eekhoff of Thief River Falls, MN, and Lloyd and his wife, Jane Eekhoff of Steamboat Rock; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Eekhoff of Steamboat Rock and Mrs. Anco (Pauline) Baker of Kanawha.
