Family Mourns The Death Of Harold Harms

Funeral services for Harold F. Harms were held on Saturday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church west of Wellsburg. Rev. John Gorter officiated at the services.

Alfred Eiten soloist sang two selections. Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist and accompanist. Mrs. Edwin Stahl and Mrs. Dwayne Sents were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Gerald Harms, Kenneth Harms, Alvin Harms, Verne Eberline, John Oltmann and Dwayne Sents. The interment service was held in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home handled the funeral arrangements.

Harold Frederick Harms passed away early Wednesday morning, June 4, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 12, 1911, on a farm in Grundy county northeast of Wellsburg, the son of George and Maude (Eberline) Harms. Harold was baptized and later confirmed in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wellsburg. He received his education at the Colfax No. 3 School in the area.

On October 14, 1937, he was united in marriage to Dena Geersema. Following their marriage they resided in Wellsburg where Harold was employed by the John W. Ross Road Construction Company and later by Beving and Flessner Hardware Store.

In February of 1943, they moved to the family farm northeast of Wellsburg where they continued to reside following his retirement from farming in 1975.

Harold was a long-time member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg, having joined on May 4, 1941.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, two brothers, Marlin and Raymond Harms.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Dena; three children and six grandchildren, Leslie and Judy Harms of Clear Lake and their children, Amy and Aaron; Loyce and Paul Horan of New Hampton and their children, Jennifer, Christine, Michael and James; LaMoine Harms of Nevada, IA and many other relatives and friends.
