Grace Haupt, Lifelong Local Resident, Dies

Grace Haupt passed away Thursday evening, February 10, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to Cardiac Arrest. She reached the age of 76 years, 4 months and 25 days.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, February 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church with Pastor John Gorter officiating at the services.

Alfred Eiten, soloist, sang two selections. Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist.

Pall bearers were Raymond Haupt, Melvin Haupt, Wallace Haupt, Ralph Haupt, Dallas Koch and Charles Diehl.

Burial services were held in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Grace was born on a farm southwest of Wellsburg on September 15, 1906, the daughter of Obo and Swantje (Nederhoff) Haupt and attended the rural school in the area.

She was a long time member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg, having made confession of faith on March 29, 1927. She also was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church.

In December of 1977 she moved to the Long Term Care Unit of the Hospital and has resided there since.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Anna (Mrs. Lambert A. Bunger) and a brother, Henry Haupt.

Survivors include 2 brothers, August Haupt of Wellsburg, Oldig Haupt of Wellsburg, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
