Mrs. J. Eertmoed Called By Death

Had Spent Most Of Her Years On The Home Farm About Three Miles West Of Wellsburg

Was 90 Years Of Age

Funeral Services Will Be Held On Thursday Afternoon At The 1st Christian Ref. Church

Mrs. Jan Eertmoed, an aged and highly respected resident of this section, died at the family home three miles west of Wellsburg, at 6:30 o'clock Monday morning. The deceased was born Antje Ross, in Ogle county, Illinois, on September 23, 1856, her parents being Albert Ross and Gretje Johnson Ross, both of Germany. She spent most of her life in the vicinity of Wellsburg, and married Jan Eertmoed 59 years ago. She is survived by her husband, a son, Alle Eertmoed of Steamboat Rock, two daughters, Mrs. Cornelius Doolard of Steamboat Rock, Mrs. Henry J. Lindaman at home, three brothers, John, Martin and Evert, all of Wellsburg, and numerous other younger relatives.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 o'clock at the Bode church, west of Wellsburg, the services to be in charge of the Rev. Louis Voskuil.

Mrs. John Ertmoed Dead; Resided In Groundy Co. 72 Yrs.

Mrs. John Ertmoed, who had resided in Grundy county for 72 years, died at her home four miles west of Wellsburg early Monday morning. She was sick but two days. She was taken to her bed on Saturday. Prior to that time she had been in good health, even though she was well advanced in years. Had she lived until the 23rd of the coming September, she would have been 81 years old.

Mrs. Ertmoed, whose maiden name was Annie Ross, was born in Ogle county, Ill., September 2, 1857. She came to Grundy county with her parents in 1866, which was a year after the close of the Civil war. Her folks located on a farm in Shiloh township. Mrs. Eertmoed remained here continually after coming to the county 72 years ago. There are but a few people who were here when she came to Grundy county who have outlived her. She was married to Mr. Ertmoed in 1879. they were married at the Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg and continued their affiliation there.

Survivin are the husband, one son, Eilt Ertmoed, and two daughters, Mrs. Cornelius Doeller of Hardin county, and Mrs. Henry Ludeman, who resides on the home place.

Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon and later at the First Christian Reformed church with the local pastor, Rev. Louis Voskuil, officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.
