Bert Molendorp, 97, of Wellsburg, died May 26 at his residence. Funeral services were May 30 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, rural Wellsburg. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Military rites were conducted by the Aplington AMVETS Post #102. A memorial fund has been established.

Bert was born April 10, 1906, in Grundy County, the son of Martin and Tena (Kruse) Molendorp. Bert attended Country School. On April 22, 1942 at Fort Des Moines, Bert enlisted in the United States Army. Before his discharge on September 27, 1945 in Sioux City, Bert attained the rank of Sergeant. Bert was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, the Parkersburg American Legion Post #285 and a lifetime member of Aplington AMVETS Post #102.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Theodore Molendorp.
