Helen Harms Services Held

Helen Harms, 83, of Wellsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Pastor Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial followed in the Shiloh Township Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Pallbearers were Cory Harms, L. Scott Harms, Lee Harms, Mark Huisman, David Huisman and Daniel Huisman.

Helen was born on October 27, 1911, in Grundy county, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Reynolds) Newell. On November 29, 1933, she was united in marriage to Elwin B. Harms in Northwood. To this union was born Royce, Vivian and Marvin.

Helen was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church and the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren, fishing, gardening, fancy work and quilting, ceramics and family dinners.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maynard and Raymond; and one sister, Frances Kirkdorffer.

Helen is survived by her husband, Elwin B. of Wellsburg; 2 sons, Royce (Anna) Harms of Wellsburg and Marvin (Nedra) of Ames; 1 daughter, Vivian Huisman (Ted) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 2 sisters, Alice Anderson of Wellsburg and Maude Clark of Hubbard; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
