Junice Groote Services Held

Junice Groote, of Wellsburg, passed away Friday, June 2, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown of natural causes, having attained the age of 72 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Verlyn D. Boone officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Township Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Pallbearers were Duane DeBerg, Allan DeBerg, Larry DeVries, Nathan Groote, Paul Smit and David Tharp.

A memorial fund has been established.

Junice Belle Groote was born June 7, 1922, in Wellsburg, the daughter of Thomas and Sophia (Freerksen) Beecroft. She attended school in Wellsburg, graduating in 1940. She worked at Hook and Haack Grocery Store in Wellsburg until her marriage.

On December 14, 1942, Junice was united in marriage to Herman Groote. They made their home in rural Holland until moving to Conrad in 1973. Upon retiring, they moved to Wellsburg in 1983. Junice was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Margaret Johnson and Mary Beecroft; and 2 brothers, Clarence Beecroft and Theodore Beecroft.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Groote; 2 sons, Sheldon and wife DaNelle of Ida Groove and Preston and wife Mary of Westminster, Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Thomas James Groote, Anne Groote and Kyle Groote; and 2 sisters, Ordie Beecroft of Wellsburg and Doris Aikin of Modesto, California.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
