Tielko Bunger Services Held
Tielko H. Bunger, 81, of Wellsburg, passed away on Saturday, July 29, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Pastor Douglas Holmes officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Full military graveside rites were conducted at the cemetery by the Wellsburg Amvets Post #91 and American Legion Post #213.
Pallbearers were Norman Huisman, Dennis Huisman, Alan Huisman, Harlan Bunger, Jim Thierman and Raymond Huisman.
A memorial fund has been established.
Tielko was born on March 30, 1914, the son of Harm and Antje (Nederhoff) Bunger in Hardin County. On October 24, 1945, he was united in marriage with Gertie Huisman by Rev. Hanscom in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union was born one son, Dallas, and one daughter, Connie.
He attended rural school in Hardin County. He did general trucking until going into the service in February of 1942. He served in the Army for 3 1/2 years. After that he worked at Snittjer Grain for 19 years. Because of health problems he again did trucking until he retired in 1982.
He became a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers, Coert and Oldig.
He is survived by his wife, Gertie; son, Dallas and his wife, Glenna of Jackson, Tennessee; daughter, Connie McCoy and her husband Garry of Cabot, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Sean Bunger, Cara Bunger, Nicole McCoy and Shelbie McCoy; 2 step-grandchildren, Scott and Justin Mather; 2 sisters, Grace Bettenga of Wellsburg and Rieka Kramer of Cedar Falls.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the professional arrangements.
