Rites Held For Floy Bergmann

Mrs. Floy Bergmann, 93, passed away Thursday, July 27, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, where she had been a resident since 1978.

Funeral services were held at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Wellsburg, on Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m. Rev. Glenn R. Dieken officiated.

Mrs. LuRay Neessen was accompanist for the congregational hymns and also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Bob Murra, Roger Hippen, Kerwin Strasser, Ronald deNeui, Richard VanMill and Jon deNeui.

The ushers were Harold Okones and Harm Meyer.

Interment was in the Shiloh Township Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Mrs. Floy Bergmann was born May 7, 1896, in Shiloh Township, Grundy county. She was the daughter of Joh and Catherine Jaspers deNeui. Floy attended school at Shiloh Township #2, and also attended a sewing school in Cedar Rapids, and took nursing training at Deaconess Hospital, Marshalltown, and attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls.

On December 30, 1925, Floy was united in marriage to Fred G. Bergmann in Waterloo. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm east of Thornton for seven years, and on a farm near Cleves for seven years. They then moved to a farm northeast of Wellsburg.

Floy was the last of the charter members of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg.

Floy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 1976; an infant daughter; two brothers, John and Jay deNeui; one sister, Fannie Kannegieter.

She is survived by one son, Clifford, of rural Wellsburg; four brothers, Roy, Ernest, Abe, all of Wellsburg, and Herman deNeui, of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
