Services Held For Clifford Bergmann
Clifford Bergmann, of Wellsburg, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 1995 at the Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls of a heart attack having attained the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 9 days.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 13, 1995, at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg with burial following in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Pastor Douglas Holmes officiated the service.
Pallbearers were Robert Murra, Roger Hippen, Norman Aswegan, Ronald deNeui, Jon deNeui, Hank Vanderzyden. Honorary bearers were Calvin Byl, Galen Aswegan, and Michael Pennington.
Clifford was born on December 31, 1933, the son of Fred and Floy (deNeui) Bergmann on a farm east of Cleves, Iowa. He helped his father with farming and also helped his uncle, Herman deNeui farm and do carpentry work. He was united in marriage with Alma Jean Aswegan on May 3, 1957, in the Salem Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, Iowa. They farmed east of Wellsburg for five years along with farming the family farm. They lived in Wellsburg for nine years and moved to their present farm two and a half miles north of Wellsburg in 1971.
He was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church, the Community Club in Wellsburg and the National Guard for several years until 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean of Wellsburg, two sons, Delwyn Bergmann and his wife Bonnie of Sumner, Iowa, and Wendell Bergmann and his wife Jodi of Dike, and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Ryan and Jessica Bergmann.
A memorial fund has been established. The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
