Theodore Beecroft Passes Away Following Stroke
Theodore (Ted) Beecroft, age 34 years, died at his home in Wellsburg at 7:15 Monday evening. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been afflicted with a heart ailment for a number of years and Friday evening suffered a fatal stroke which paralyzed his entire left side. He did not regain consciousness.
Ted was born and raised in Wellsburg graduating from the Wellsburg High School with the class of 1933. He was employed for several years as filling station attendant, later going into business at the D-X Service Station with his brother Clarence. Due to health conditions he was forced to later give this up. He was a member of the Commercial Club and the Wellsburg Fire Department. He was a great sports fan and the past few years gave much of his time to both the sports and civic welfare of the community.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sophie Beecroft, one brother, Clarence, of Wellsburg, four sisters, Margaret, of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Herman Groote, of Holland, and Ordie and Doris, at home. He was preceded in death by his father in 1926 and one sister, Mary in 1925.
Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at 1:30 o'clock at the Clarence Beecroft home and later at the Second Christian Reformed Church. The pastor, Rev. Rubingh had charge of the services. Interment was in the Wellsburg Shiloh Cemetery. Casketbearers were H. C. Haack, Dr. Harry Heddens, Eldon Gohner, Lewis Akkerman, Duane Greany, M. M. Boeke.
Music was furnished by a male quartet: Henry Kannegieter, Adolph Deters, H. W. Ross, Harley Lindaman, with Mrs. Ray Toomsen as pianist and Mrs. Wilbur Knock, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Doyen and Miss Bertha Doyen.
