Ordie Beecroft Services Held

Ordie Beecroft, 87, of Wellsburg, passed away on Monday, January 4, 1999 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown of natural causes.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 7, at 10 a.m. at the Christ Covenant Church with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery, both in Wellsburg. Pastor Douglas Holmes officiated. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were John Hoodjer, Virgil Byl, Warren Anderson, Ivan Slifer, Rodney Deters and Kenny Bunger.

Ordie was born on April 29, 1911 in Wellsburg the daughter of Thomas and Sophia (Freerksen) Beecroft. She graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1928. Ordie enjoyed sewing and taught Sunday School. She was a lifetime member of the Christ Covenant Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Junice Groote, Margaret Johnson and Mary Beecroft; and two brothers, Clarence and Theodore Beecroft.

Survivors include her sister, Doris Aikin of Modesto, California; two brothers-in-law, Herman Groote of Wellsburg and Ralph Johnson of Iowa Falls; and other nieces and nephews.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the arrangements.
